Women’s Safety Boots Event a Great Success

The event held on Wednesday 13th March 2026 was a brilliant success, with around 60 women attending to try the 3 different safety boots proposed by BYLOR. In addition to the boots, comfort insoles were also available for workers to test.

The purpose of the event was to gather valuable feedback on which products women workers prefer and feel most comfortable wearing on site. Safety boots are worn for 11 hours or more during shifts, so it is essential that they meet high standards in both comfort and safety.

The event was organised exclusively for BYLOR women workers, who will also be the only workers on site wearing these selected safety boots.

The event officially ran from 11:00am until 1:30pm, but due to the high level of interest and participation, it remained open until nearly 2:00pm.

The majority of attendees heard about the event through the Women in Construction - Unite the Union poster created by Sarah Guyon. The poster was displayed across several areas of Hinkley Point C, shared within different HPC Women and Unite WhatsApp groups, and promoted on BYLOR Connecteam.

The women workers were genuinely pleased that an event like this had been organised specifically for them, giving them the opportunity to provide honest and direct feedback on PPE designed for women.

A final decision on the selected safety boots will be made in the coming weeks following further review and feedback. Soon, the chosen models will begin appearing across site, helping ensure BYLOR women workers at Hinkley Point C benefit from PPE that combines safety, comfort and practicality.

Thank you to everyone who took part in the event, shared feedback, and helped make the day such a success.
