A Big Thank You to the Women at Hinkley Point C

Following last week’s International Women’s Day event at Hinkley Point C, Unite the Union would like to thank all the women across the project who joined the celebration. The event was a wonderful opportunity to connect, share experiences and recognise the valuable role women continue to play across the HPC workforce.

Around 200 women working across the HPC project came together on Tuesday 4 March 2026 to celebrate International Women’s Day at a special event organised by Sarah Guyon, Women in Construction Representative.

Although International Women’s Day is officially marked on 8 March, the event was held earlier to allow women working across the project to take part before the weekend.

Hosted at the Jason Waring Tent, the celebration brought together women from a wide range of roles across the site, including engineers, supervisors, tradeswomen, safety representatives and support roles across the project. The event created a welcoming and relaxed space where colleagues could meet, share experiences and recognise the growing role of women within the construction industry.

Guests were welcomed with drinks, donuts and a commemorative International Women’s Day badge, helping create a friendly atmosphere that encouraged conversation and connection among those attending.

The event was funded by SW/8257 Unite Branch, demonstrating the union’s ongoing commitment to promoting equality, diversity and inclusion within the construction sector.

Sarah Guyon explained that the aim of the event was to bring women together and recognise their important contribution to the project.

“Women belong in construction, and events like this help build confidence, connection and support across the workforce.”
