Nepal Floods - Support for Our Members

Unite SW/8257 HPC Construction Branch stands in solidarity with the people of Nepal following the devastating flooding and loss of life.

This disaster has hit working people particularly hard. 933 workers across 11 hydropower projects are currently reported missing, many of them construction and engineering workers who were simply at work when the floods struck.

That hits close to home for us at Hinkley Point C.

HPC has a large and diverse workforce, including Nepalese nationals working across the project. We know some of our members and colleagues may have family, friends or communities directly affected by what is happening in Nepal.

If this is affecting you, please speak to your Unite reps.

A number of your Unite representatives are also trained Mental Health Buddies. They can provide confidential support, listen to what you are dealing with and help you access further assistance where needed.

The branch will also be looking at what practical support we can provide to workers and families affected by the disaster.

Trade union solidarity does not stop at the site gates or at national borders.

Workers standing with workers.
