Meet Sarah Guyon

As Unite’s Women in Construction Representative, she works across the project to challenge barriers, raise standards and make sure women are not just present in construction — but properly supported, respected and heard

Sarah works directly with women across the project to understand the real, day-to-day challenges they face — from welfare facilities and PPE fit to workplace culture and fair treatment.

She raises concerns through the right channels, follows them through, and works with management and union colleagues to secure practical, workable solutions.

Her focus is simple:

  • Make sure standards are applied consistently

  • Make sure facilities meet real needs

  • Make sure women’s voices are heard and acted on

This isn’t about policies on paper — it’s about how things actually work on site.

Sarah’s Wins on Site

Representation should lead to results. Some of the improvements secured so far include:

Improved women’s changing facilities
Sarah negotiated the installation of additional benches with coat hooks in the women’s locker rooms, improving comfort, organisation and day-to-day usability.
